The Legal Program Coordinator/Assistant
Rule of Law Program in Kazakhstan, based in Nur-Sultan
The Legal Program Coordinator/Assistant provides technical and logistical assistance to a multi-year USAID funded rule of law program in Kazakhstan. The Legal Program Coordinator works as part of a technical team and reports directly to the Country Director/Chief of Party and Deputy Chief of Party.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support planning and coordination of program and its activities;
- Assist with all aspects of organizing events including planning, coordination with partners and experts, logistics, and day-of administrative support;
- Provide regular legislative updates on the rule of law issues;
- Conduct research as assigned and provide findings and recommendations to management;
- Support Technical Managers in implementation all activities under their respective program objectives. Regarding MEL Activities, to conduct data collection, recording and tracking program progress and compiling reports to the MEL manager. Further, together with Technical Managers and MEL Manager, to conduct analysis of collected data, provide support in drafting reports and collect additional data;
- Compile materials and reports and assist with maintaining program files;
- Schedule and organize meetings/events with high level officials, partners and maintain agenda;
- Prepare minutes of meetings as necessary;
- Prepare advanced word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation documents as assigned including manuals, brochures, reports, budget documents, and PowerPoint presentations;
- Receives, sorts, analyzes, and summarizes material for the preparation of reports; maintains department records;
- Assist with translating legal documents from Russian to English;
- Support in managing communications through media relations, social media by drafting statements, press releases, welcome speeches, etc.;
- Ensures implementation of programs and projects conform to ABA policies;
- Support growth and program development;
- Help build positive relations within the team and external parties;
- Perform other related duties as required.
Skills and Educational Requirements
- Degree in Law or similar field;
- Knowledge of the Kazakh legal system;
- 3-5 years of experience in support of the program management related work;
- 3-5 years of experience working at an international organization required; working with USG programs preferred;
- Strong time management and organizational skills;
- Excellent writing and communication skills;
- Attention to detail and accuracy;
- Ability to adapt to diverse requests and quickly changing requirements;
- Ability to obtain and process information in a timely manner;
- Proactive, flexible, team spirited and willing to learn;
- Work effectively as a part of the team;
- Excellent computer skills including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
- Excellent oral and written communication in English and Russian; Kazakh is a plus
