ABA ROLI is a non-profit program that implements legal reform programs in more than 50 countries around the world. ABA ROLI has nearly 500 professional staff working abroad and in its Washington, D.C. office. ABA ROLI’s host country partners include judges, lawyers, bar associations, law schools, court administrators, legislatures, ministries of justice and a wide array of civil society organizations, including human rights groups.

JOB SUMMARY

The Program Associate assists in the administration, design and development of programs, projects and activities of the Asia and the Pacific Division of ABA’s Rule of Law Initiative. The role provides administrative, research and logistics support to the Division across a wide range of program areas, as well as requiring effective interpersonal skills to deal with partners and other stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implements one or more programs or projects, includes participation in program/project planning, and ensuring compliance with ABA policies;
  • Analyzes project/program performance throughout the process to ensure projects move forward in a productive manner;
  • Serves as a point of contact for projects; communicates with member leaders and staff, including reporting on progress and results;
  • Remains accountable for successful execution of assigned projects;
  • Provides advanced administrative support functions in support of projects and/or major work groups;
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree from four-year college or university (or equivalent experience);
  • Possession of basic skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
  • Previous experience working in an office environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Academic or professional experience in the legal field, strong understanding of legal issues and systems;
  • Previous experience assisting in the management of grant-funded programs;
  • Previous experience in relation to Asia;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • An understanding of international development, human rights and rule of law programming.
