JOB SUMMARY

The Program Associate, Research, Evaluation, and Learning Division, will support international development programs primarily related to justice sector reform, education and training of justice sector professionals, and access to justice. The Program Associate’s primary role is to provide operational support for program management and implementation, including contracting and procurement, arranging travel and event logistics, communicating with program partners, ensuring that program activities stay on budget, and planning and attending program activities. The Program Associate will also contribute to new program development, including proposal writing and budgeting, and to program monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.

The Program Associate should thrive when working as part of a team, enjoy being busy, and be able to focus in a fast-paced environment. The Program Associate will have to multi-task and manage multiple assignments at the same time, often under tight deadlines. The Program Associate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and must be skilled at communicating effectively and respectfully with people from different cultures. This position requires frequent external communication, including with high-level foreign and U.S. officials, and regular participation in external meetings. Some travel and occasional attendance at evening or weekend events may be required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implements one or more programs or projects, includes participation in program/project planning;
  • Ensures implementation of programs and projects conform to ABA policies;
  • Analyzes project/program performance throughout the process to measure progress against the project/program plan;
  • Serves as a point of contact for projects and communicates with member leaders and staff, including reporting on progress and results;
  • Remains accountable for successful execution of assigned projects;
  • May provide advanced administrative support functions in support of projects and/or major work groups;
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university;
  • Possession of basic skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
  • Previous experience working in an office environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Fluency in at least one major world language other than English
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Demonstrated cross-cultural sensitivity and communication skills
  • Prior experience working (internships or paid employment) on US Government-funded programs
