ABA ROLI seeks a dedicated Legal Consultant (LC) to work on a trafficking-in-persons program in Jordan. This program’s aim is to increase the number of systematized, victim-centered human trafficking investigations and prosecutions in Jordan and develop new and/or strengthen existing, enforceable policies, laws, agreements, or mechanisms related to human trafficking in Jordan. The LC will be based in Amman.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works with Deputy Director and consultants to develop, implement, and conduct programs including:

  • Assisting with the day-to day-implementation of the project, taking responsibility for timely implementation of activities, and coordinating with local and international partners;

  • Planning and conducting seminars, workshops and other training events (to include logistical arrangements, preparation of substantive materials, and oversight of other local services providers);

  • Preparing legal reports, analyses, and background assessments on substantive programmatic issues, including trafficking-in-persons and other relevant topics.

  • Monitors legal and other relevant political and policy developments related to trafficking-in-persons and other relevant topics and reports on them to Deputy Director and other ABA personnel as necessary.

  • Takes an active role in the collection of quantitative and qualitative data for monitoring and evaluation purposes and contributes to quarterly and annual reporting.

  • Communicates with local and regional partners on behalf of the ABA as directed by the Deputy Director.

  • Other responsibilities include representing the ABA at external events, assisting with grant compliance, and supervising support staff, as well as other related duties as requested.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Law and at least four (4) years of relevant experience.

  • Fluency in Arabic and English.

  • Experience working on trafficking-in-persons projects and issues.

  • Experience working with justice sector and/or civil society groups.

  • Experience working on US government awards.

  • Working knowledge of MENA region and/or experience working in politically sensitive contexts is highly desirable.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Availability to begin in March or April 2020.
