Project Coordinator in Barbados

ABA ROLI is seeking a Project Coordinator for a potential project in Barbados. The project will support the Government of Barbados in strengthening its response to trafficking in persons. The Project Director will lead ABA ROLI’s technical support to the Government of Barbados and ensure all aspects of the project align with the overall mission, vision, and values of the ABA and ROLI. The duration of the assignment is six to nine months.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide overall leadership, strategic direction, management and guidance to the Project

  • Execute the day-to-day management of the Project with the goal of meeting/exceeding contract requirements

  • Accountable for all timely, accurate, and compliant in-country programmatic monitoring and reporting.

  • Engage with stakeholder institutions to foster partnerships to fulfill Project objectives

  • Identify, consolidate, and integrate a body of expertise, skills, and resources regarding trafficking in persons related activities

  • Liaise with local stakeholders and organizations on the ground to coordinate activities, communicate achievements, and identify opportunities for collaboration and learning

  • Maintain proactive communications ABA ROLI headquarters in DC to ensure timely and accurate updates on Project activities, achievements, and shortcomings. In area where program shortcomings are identified, create and implement corrective action plans to improve performance against standards

  • Ensure Project compliance with USG requirements, ABA, and local laws/regulations

  • Perform other duties as required

Basic qualifications

  • Possession of a JD from an ABA-accredited law school or recognized foreign law school and at least seven (7) years’ experience in coordinating or managing international development projects; OR, Possession of a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university and at least ten (10) years’ experience in coordinating or managing international development projects.

  • Previous experience coordinating or managing U.S. Government, USAID, NGO, or other similarly funded contracts and/or grants on projects regarding trafficking in persons, and an understanding of the international legal framework governing trafficking in persons and associated offenses in the Caribbean.

  • Excellent English language skills

  • Strong commitment to rule of law principles.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience working with the legislature and justice sector institutions in Barbados

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with the issues driving trafficking in persons in the Caribbean, and primarily in Barbados.

• Locally based in Barbados
