PROGRAM BACKGROUND:

This regional position will support ABA ROLI gender-based violence programs in Libya and Jordan.

In Libya, ABA ROLI implements a program focused on gender-based violence (GBV) prevention through increasing access to justice and support services for survivors of GBV, including members of vulnerable groups, and justice sector capacity building in Libya.

In Jordan, ABA ROLI implements a program to enhance technical expertise and coordination among community-based GBV providers.

JOB SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ABA seeks a Senior Regional Advisor, Gender-Based Violence with significant technical experience on GBV, gender, and human rights in the Middle East and North Africa. This is a part-time, 10 -15 hours a week position to begin December 2020. **

Responsibilities include:

· Provide technical input into project activities on GBV. This includes a technical review of the program's key technical and non-technical documents, such as the Minimum Standards, implementation plans, MEL, and knowledge products and other deliverables.

· Design and deliver course modules, trainings for field staff, volunteers, and partner organizations.

· Assess systems employed by partner organizations, including case management and data collection protocols, and mentor partners in developing enhanced systems that are victim-centered and able to be implemented during the pandemic and similar crises situations.

· Work with teams to design appropriate GBV prevention and response programs, including approaches for implementation, program timelines, staffing structures, and required budgets.

· Provide regular input and review of proposals and program reports.

· Contribute to the development of guidance notes, tools, and resources for HQ staff and field teams.

· Contribute to knowledge management through the production and dissemination of case studies, promising practices, lesson-learned documents.

· Maintain regular contact with program teams in MENA countries, to stay abreast of issues, program concerns and needs for assistance.

· Provide gender technical assistance to all team members, as needed, including providing guidance on the use of performance indicators and evaluations to reflect progress toward women's empowerment outcomes and impacts throughout the program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Advanced University Degree in Law, Human Rights, Women’s Rights, Gender, Sociology, or equivalent and relevant areas is required.

· 7-10 years of experience working on GBV and related issues;

· Knowledge of Libya, MENA region and/or experience working in culturally sensitive contexts is highly desirable;

· Experience in managing, advising and supporting a comprehensive response to GBV is essential;

· Fluency in English (knowledge of Arabic or French preferred);

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
