ABA ROLI is a non-profit program that implements legal reform programs in more than 50 countries around the world. ABA ROLI has nearly 500 professional staff working abroad and in its Washington, D.C. office. ABA ROLI’s host country partners include judges, lawyers, bar associations, law schools, court administrators, legislatures, ministries of justice and a wide array of civil society organizations, including human rights groups.
JOB SUMMARY
ABA ROLI is seeking a Development Associate to assist in the design and development of programs, projects and activities of the Rule of Law Initiative. The Development Associate will be responsible for the implementation of programs and projects under the supervision of the program director or manager, and be held accountable for the successful execution of assigned programs/projects. The Development Associate’s responsibilities will also include tracking donor opportunities, supporting departmental donor cultivation activities, and supporting grant and proposal development, as well as developing, updating and maintaining donor/partner management tools and communications collateral for targeted donors and partners. The Development Associate will also provide general support to the Director of Institutional Advancement, and other duties as assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implements one or more programs or projects, including participation in program planning and ensuring compliance with ABA policies;
- Analyzes project/program performance throughout the process to ensure projects move forward in a productive manner;
- Serves as a point of contact for projects, communicates with member leaders and staff, including reporting on progress and results;
- Coordinates with others on joint projects;
- Schedules meetings, reserves meeting rooms, prepares meeting materials, and coordinates logistics for events;
- Coordinates travel by preparing travel authorizations, travel reimbursement forms, and maintaining travel budget projections;
- Prepares monthly expense reports, supports special projects, and provides general administrative support as needed;
- Oversees routing of contracts and agreements;
- Maintains timely and accurate data in Salesforce or other CRM platform for Senior Staff as needed;
- Assists in preparation of briefing memorandums, drafting of talking points and presentations, research, and follow up with both internal and external stakeholders;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university, or equivalent experience;
- Demonstrated experience with related responsibilities, preferably in an association or non-profit setting, fundraising or grant application experience a plus;
- Analytical problem solving ability and self-direction;
- Project experience and meeting planning experience;
- Research and writing skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- One to two years of experience providing administrative support to executive level staff;
- Advanced computer and software skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, and CRM database systems such as Salesforce and Raiser’s Edge;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Strong planning and organizational skills;
- Ability to flexibly manage multiple tasks with attention to detail;
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines;
- Experience in resource development helpful.
