The Business Development (BD) Associate is responsible for supporting business and proposal development initiatives under the direction of the Senior Business Development Manager. The BD Associate provides crosscutting support for executing business and proposal development initiatives. The BD Associate supports the overall development of proposals assigned including developing compliance documents; schedules, identifying and convening experts to draft proposals; conducting research to inform technical approaches; recruiting qualified local and international candidates and organizations; assisting writing, editing, and/or reviewing drafts of various sections of proposals. As appropriate, and in coordination with the Communications Unit, he/she provides support to draft and maintain ABA Global Programs marketing materials, capacity statements, and other BD materials.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

The BD Associate is responsible for supporting the development of proposals assigned to him/her,

administrative tasks related to new business, and helping track new business opportunities. Specific tasks

include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Develop a clear understanding of ABA Center for Global Programs’ current project portfolio and staff and firm

capabilities and communicate to potential consultants and clients

• Help identify new business opportunities and update business development data and tracker

• Assist in ABA ROLI capture efforts (recruiting candidates, conducting meetings with potential organizations

as needed, identifying a competitive edge for a compelling, responsive, and high-quality responses to

solicitations)

• Responsible for procurement processes related to recruitment

• Conduct desk research for proposals

• Assist with the proposal development process for assigned opportunities, including contributing to writing

and editing

• Edit proposals and other ABA Center for Global Programs documents and ensure formatting of proposal

documentation adheres to ABA Center for Global Programs style

• Conduct compliance checks of proposals to ensure they meet RFP requirements

• Contribute to BD and ABA Global Programs' strategic plan implementation

• Help develop training materials and training programs

• Performs other duties as assigned

Required Education, Qualifications, Experience

• Bachelor’s degree.

• Understanding of international development.

• Excellent knowledge of MS Word and Excel.

• Strong project management, analytical and time management skills; highly organized and detail oriented.

• Outstanding communication skills verbally and in writing.

• Ability to travel overseas on a short notice and work long hours during proposal preparation as needed.

Preferred Education, Qualifications, Experience

• International program experience preferred.

• Prior experience working on funding proposals for USAID, State Department, and/or other

multilateral/bilateral donors preferred.
