ABA CGP Learning Evidence and Impact - MEL Associate

The American Bar Association-Rule of Law Initiative is seeking a MEL Associate to join the Learning, Evidence and Impact division. The MEL Associate serves as the supporting function to ROLI MEL efforts, including creation and implementation of tools and templates for use in proposal design, monitoring, evaluation, and learning for activities across ABA ROLI.

The MEL Associate also supports evaluation efforts and department level MEL initiatives. Supports maintenance of the performance management system, and the LEI intranet page. Provides administrative support to knowledge and learning events, internal evaluations, and trainings. Reviews organization-wide data for quality standards and helps troubleshoot annual or quarterly reporting.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Participates in creation of tools and templates for planning, data collection, and monitoring by programs.
  • Works with proposal team (writer, cost preparer, lead) on activities, feasibility, and measurement approach on proposals under USD 1 million.
  • Provides initial quality reviews for specific MEL products, including during proposal design. Drafts log frames, narratives, and MEL plans (indicators + targets) alongside proposal teams in divisions.
  • Supports maintenance of the ROLI performance management system (Devresults).
  • Supports production of data dashboards, proposal documents, program reports, and learning products.
  • Updates the MEL resources on the intranet. Including frequently used resources/tools for program teams such as pre and post survey templates and examples, partner data collection and reporting tools and templates,etc.
  • Supports online and in person spaces for exchange of knowledge and learning, such as the MEL Intranet page, and learning events.
  • Manages repository of indicators for different donors and thematic indicator menus.
  • Reviews organization-wide data for basic quality standards and helps troubleshoot annual or quarterly reporting.
  • Maintains up to date standard language on ABA ROLI’s organizational capacity on MEL.
  • Supports MEL recruitment and staff training efforts.
  • Provides administrative support to internal evaluations.
  • Supports learning and reflection activities on ROLI level.
  • Participates in and documents ROLI events related to MEL issues.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Required Education, Qualifications, Experience:

  • Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint.

Preferred Education, Qualifications, Experience:

  • Experience or classwork relevant to monitoring, evaluation, learning, data collection or analysis.
  • Relevant foreign language such as Spanish, French, Arabic, or Russian
