We are looking for two regional experts consultants. The purpose of these two consultancies is to provide the EAJ with in-depth local context analysis and information throughout Year 1. Analysis and local contextual understand will ensure that EAJ activities are relevant to local community socio-cultural and well as political dynamics.
Tasks
The consultants will need to undertake the following tasks to achieve the above-mentioned objectives:
monitor local media on access to justice matters
regularly consult with key respondents and relevant actors to review contextual changes related to program activities and objectives
Participate in EAJ coordination forums to help identify EAJ partner interests and needs
Provide monthly briefs/updates on the current situation as it relates to EAJ program objectives
Provide briefs on special thematic issues upon request
Applicant Skills and Qualifications
The Consultants should have the following educational qualifications, skills and experience:
- MA degree in social science, law, political science or related discipline;
- An excellent understanding of the Somali local political and institutional landscape particularly regarding justice and dispute resolutions systems;
- Demonstrated access to key respondents in the justice sector;
- English writing skills and experience conducting qualitative interviews;
- Somali language skills;
- Be resident in either Somaliland or Jubaland.
The consultancies are based on a retainer contract of up to 40 working days, in the period from 20 February to 31 August.
